We recommend the use of induction hardening to improve the durability of your industrial materials.
The heat treatment – in which a metal part is heated by induction heating and then quenched – is used to selectively harden areas of a part or assembly without affecting the properties of the part as a whole. It serves to increase the hardness and durability of the hardened area.
Crown Engineering has extensive experience in induction hardening of gear teeth. We have the capacity to induction harden and grind gears up to 2 metres and induction harden complete gears without ground teeth up to 4 metres.
From the design of the inductor head through to final tempering of the component, we take control of the entire process. Extensive testing ensures the hardened profile goes beyond the technical requirements set out by the customer and industry standards.
All induction hardened components are pre-qualified through the use of test pieces to prove the hardness and profile of the induction hardened area.
